FORT PIERCE – A public memorial service for Michael Jackson is scheduled to be held on Tuesday morning at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the late pop star had been rehearsing for his London comeback concerts. The service has been set for 10 a.m. PT with 11,000 free tickets being made available.

In an effort to show support of Michael Jackson, for his family, and for all of his fans, and the local community, the Sunrise Theatre will be providing their own memorial services, LIVE, on the big screen in the main theater, at 1 PM, on Tuesday, via a direct simulcast with the Staples Center.

Tony Wilson will co-host the Memorial with Larry Lee, local business man and entrepreneur, and John Wilkes, Executive Director of the Sunrise Theatre.

Wilson, known as the Young James Brown to celebrities and fans alike, was a decoy for Michael Jackson during the Victory tour, and was actually crowned the Best Michael Jackson Entertainer on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the early 80’s. Back then, Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson’s father, took an interest and liking to Tony, and today, Tony continues to look up to Joe Jackson as a mentor and friend.

Wilson was recently on the local news, WPBF Channel 25, WPTV Channel 5 and Channel 12, as well as in the TC Palm for his new release of “WE CALL HIM PETER PAN”, an original song Wilson wrote for Michael Jackson back in 2005. Listeners will be able to hear this throughout day on 104.7 the Flame.

“I never turned my back on Michael, and in fact, I wrote the song, WE CALL HIM PETER PAN, and sang it to my good friends Joe and Katherine Jackson in their living room in 2005. I never released it because hurricane Katrina hit, exactly on Michael Jackson’s birthday, August 29th, and it was just bad timing. I didn’t want Michael’s name to be associated with one of the most devastating storms to ever hit the US,” said Wilson.

However, now the time is right, according to Wilson, who wants everyone to remember Michael Jackson in a positive way. “I hope this song changes the mindset of people and stops the negativity around his life…and death. I’m so thankful to the Sunrise Theatre and John Wilkes for opening up its doors for his fans…for those of us who just can’t believe he’s gone and so thankful to the Flame for playing my tribute song to Michael,” said Wilson.

“I am hoping that as many people in our community as possible will come together to honor one of the greatest entertainers of a generation, Michael Jackson,” said Sunrise Theater Director John Wilkes.

“I feel honored to be a part of this great occasion to honor the greatest entertainer of all times, Michael Jackson”, said Larry Lee. “Michaels’ popularity worldwide has done so much to bridge the gap of all people; his idea to do the song WE ARE THE WOLRD is a prime example of what his life was about. I as well as the entire staff and management of WFLM 104.7 the FLAME is very proud to be a part of this tribute to Michael Jackson,” added Lee.
