The coast guard auxiliary is offering another safe boating course on October 17th from 8:15am to 5:00pm at the coast guard auxiliary building on Seaway Drive.  For more information call Joe at 772-461-3500 or Gary at 772-321-3041.  See you in class.

 

The tree sale to benefit the treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation is this Saturday from 9am to 2pm and Sunday from 9am to noon at the Fort Pierce Yacht Club.  There are 3 gallon trees of live oak, crape myrtle, bald cypress, flame maple, and magnolias.  The trees range in size from 3-6 feet.  The cost is $10.00 and the profits are going to a great organization.  If you have any questions you can contact Denise at 352-223-7973 or e-mail her at vintagedee@aol.com.

 

This month Captain Chop from the Gator is having an Interactive Nature Series at the Fort Pierce library.  October 8th at 3pm is “birds, butterflies and bobcats.  Come learn more about the different names and their habitats and what their impact is on our ecosystems.  October 9th at 1:30pm will be a walking tour at Bear Point Sanctuary park.  

October 22nd is the “Creatures of the Lagoon” you will get to know the inhabitants of our invaluable estuary.  On October 23rd to compliment the Creatures of the Lagoon presentation there will be a walk and talk tour at Vitolo family park.

Beginning October 16th on every Friday except Friday Fest Fridays “Sunset Magic” will have live local music from schools and choirs, there will be vendors and food also.  A portion of the funds raised will go back to the groups and schools that perform.

 

City of Fort Pierce is holding a Community wide Charette on Historic preservation on Monday October 12th at the Fort Pierce Community Center at 5:30pm.  The event is being held to gather citizen and brassiness input tot he direction of the City’s Historic Preservation program.  The City is seeking to improve the preservation program with new ideas and what vision the citizens have for their city in the future.  Local restaurants have partnered up to supply appetizers and desserts for this event.  Come out and be a part of this meeting to help preserve the City of Fort Pierce.
