Indian River, the leading magazine on the Treasure Coast, kicks off 2010 with its annual green issue, an edition made of 100 percent recycled paper and featuring stories on the people who work to make St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River counties more eco-friendly. The issue includes stories on filmmaker Mike Nash from the Treasure Coast who has made it to the Sundance Film Festival with his documentary on climate change. The issue also focuses on several residents and business owners who use solar energy to power their homes. An extensive story on the water quality of the Indian River Lagoon is also prominently featured in the upcoming edition. FORT PIERCE MAGAZINE PUBLISHES IN FEBRUARY – This issue of Indian River also contains the magazine’s standard features, including its Living History section and a profile on photo pioneer Harry E. Hill, who documented much of the area’s early history through his photography, The story, written by Treasure Coast historian Sandra Thurlow, is accompanied by dozens of Hill’s photos. In the magazine’s art section, writer Catherine Enns Grigas, author of the recently released “Journey of the Highwaymen,” looks back on the founding of the Backus Gallery & Museum in Fort Pierce as it approaches its 50th season.
